He started selling real estate in Lake Havasu City in 1986, becoming a broker in 1990. Lonnie worked in real estate until 2000 and then transferred to the mortgage business in January of 2001. Lonnie also works with his community; in 2007 he started the Lake Havasu City Toastmasters chapter. As recently as 2010 & 2011 he was chairman of the Lake Havasu City March of Dimes, March for Babies Walk.
